Important practical information:
You are in the town of KIERSPE in the province of NORDRHEIN-WESTFALEN (NRW). Here you can travel freely with your papers.
TOWN HALL – RATHAUS
(nr. 1 on the map):
In the town hall you should ask for Mister SGOBIO.
He will advise you about your first money, your lodgings, your papers.
He will also give you bedclothes, towels and tea-towels.
If people from your country live in Kierspe we can help you to meet them.
You will get about 350,00 Euros a month. Mr. SGOBIO will give it tou you per cheque or pay it to your account with either SPARKASSE or VOLKSBANK (nr. 3 on the map).
The amount of your first money depends on the date of your arrival. The town of Kierspe will also pay for your lodgings, water, heating, refuse collection and medical help.
„Hand in Hand“ (nr. 4 on the map):
„Hand in Hand“ has been established by volunteers. There you can find clothes, shoes and kitchen gear (every Wednesday from 2:30 p.m. to
5:00 p.m.) Every 4th Wednesday of the month you can get there food for very little money. „Hand in Hand“ will ask you for a visitor's permit which you can get at the town hall.
You can travel in NRW by bus and train. But: you must by all means PAY FOR THE TICKETS! Otherwise you will be fined 60,- Euros.
It is expensive to go by bus. Weekly or monthly tickets are cheaper than single tickets. By walking most of your ways you can save a lot of money.

IF YOU ARE SICK:
Mr. SGOBIO will provide you with a health insurance certificate which you must give to a DOCTOR (general practitioner) or a DENTIST in KIERSPE, MEINERZHAGEN or LÜDENSCHEID.
If necessary, this doctor will hand you on to a specialist.
If you fall seriously ill at night or on a weekend you can se the EMERGENCY WARD of the KLINIKUM HELLERSEN in LÜDENSCHEID.

Bus: Nr. 58 or 59 direction Lüdenscheid up to busstop SAUERFELD. Then take the bus nr. 42 or 44 up to Klinikum.
Out of the doctors' normal opening hours there is a free call number for a medical emergency service: 116 117
The times for this emergency service are:
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday:
from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m on the following day,
Wednesday and Friday:
from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. the following day,
Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays:
from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. the following day.
If you are in urgent need of immediate medical help, you can dial the EMERGENCY-NUMBER 112. An ambulance will come very quick.
AUSLÄNDERAMT (office for foreigners) in LÜDENSCHEID:
Here you will get your temporary identity card. It is valid only up to the given date of expiry; to keep your card vaild you have to go back to the office in time.

Bus: Nr. 58 or 59 direction Lüdenscheid up to busstop SAUERFELD. Then take the bus nr. 41 (direction Schubertstraße) up to busstop KREISHAUS.
RADIO / TV:
Radio and TV are free for you. For this you will have to fill in a form, which you get together with the information about your money. At the town hall Mr. Sgobio or the „Bürgerbüro“ will help you to fill in the form and to post it.
Please keep your mail and show it to someone you know or to Mr. Sgobio so that one can help you if something must be done.
You ought to learn German as quickly as possibIe. This will make life in Germany easier for you and could help you to find a job.
You have the opportunity to take part in language courses that are held for you by people of Kierspe. They take place regularly and are free. You are heartily invited to join them.
